Breda Murphy, a site manager, locked eyes with Melissa Kelly, a care assistant, when they met in Griffith’s Barracks in 1998. The girls, originally from Finglas, had spoken about marriage many times before Melissa finally proposed in 2015.
THE PROPOSAL
They were out for an intimate dinner when Melissa made her romantic proposal. Shortly afterwards a date was set for August 22, 2016 at Crover House Hotel. They invited 122 of their family and friends to celebrate. It was the best day of their lives.
THE WEDDING TEAM
Flowers for the day were provided by The Flower Basket Ballyjamesduff and the couple’s cake was made by Valerie’s cakes, Virginia, Cavan. The band Cozy & Phil played at the reception before DJ Billy came on to keep the crowd entertained for the night. David McLean of DMC Photography captured the day fantastically and the couple are delighted with their wedding album. Grainne Johnston Crosskeys Hair and Sarah Keogh Makeup had Breda and Melissa looking radiant for the day itself and Brendan Clarke’s cars transported the brides to their destination. “From start to finish the whole day was amazing; every moment was special,” they both echoed.
PERSONAL TOUCHES
The couple’s personal touches included the use of the pride flag in their name cards, buttonholes and inside the wedding cake. They also had a photo collage of all the people they had lost over the years along with a memory plaque, this went beside the cake. The pair jetted off to Lanzarote for a romantic honeymoon in the sun. Breda and Melissa now reside in Ballyjamesduff with their two dogs, Charlie and Harper.
