Lauren and Heather get hitched in magical fairytale wedding

28 April, 2017 – Blackwater Castle Fermoy

An online meeting nearly five years ago blossomed into a fairytale love story for Heather and Lauren O’Sullivan.

Surrounded by all their friends and family in Blackrock Castle in March 2016, Heather popped the question to Lauren and they were married last April where 120 guests celebrated their special day.

Heather works as a Music Teacher, while Lauren is an Accounts Technician. The couple both hail from Cork and have set up home in the suburbs of the Rebel County.

Location
Blackwater Castle in Fermoy: “It is such an amazing, magical venue, from the minute you begin your journey up the drive way it just captivates you,” explains Heather.

“Owners Sheila & Patrick are just fantastic and no ask is too big, the venue is handed over as is, so it is up to you to arrange everything else.

“This was right up our alley, we absolutely love DIY and it allowed us to design every aspect and to keep all our guests around us for the four days. A special mention to Mike & Eileen and all the staff, two fantastic people who helped us organize our entire wedding.”

Attire
Both Heather and Lauren wore Enzoani dresses.

Flowers
Lauren and Heather did all the flowers for their wedding themselves – spending days organising their own bouquets, the bridesmaids’ flowers and the flowers on the tables.

Cake
Rather than spending a huge amount of money on a wedding cake, Heather and Lauren ordered 40 cakes from SuperValu instead. They placed the cakes on tree logs and surrounded them with fairy lights.

Entertainment
“My wonderful sister ‘Storm’ and Lauren’s Brother ‘Olan’ sang us up the aisle and serenaded us through the ceremony,” said Heather.

“Our Band, ‘Witless’ were amazing, Loretta is such a character and they had the entire wedding party dancing from the first song. Our DJ, Sam O’Shea, didn’t stop until 5am with such a great selection of music.”

First Dance
Heather serenaded Lauren with Elvis’ version of ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love with You’ and the video went viral. Here is a link to the beautiful moment. https://www.facebook.com/weddingsingercork/videos/1190023581124676/

Who officiated the ceremony?
Lauren’s father Joe performed the ceremony and two lovely ladies, Sophia & Sharon do all the legal bits.

Theme
Lauren and Heather opted for a very subtle Fairytale theme.

Favourite memories of the day “
The moment Joe pronounced us Wife & Wife was a deal breaker, knowing now and forever we were going to be each other’s everything was an amazing feeling.”

Honeymoon
The couple went on a minimoon to Lanzarote and plan to go on a proper honeymoon at some stage this year.

Any little things that ye did for the wedding that you want our readers to know about?
We tried to keep our wedding as intimate as possible, from Lauren’s Dad marrying us, to our sister and brother singing us down the aisle.

How great was it working with your photographer/videographer
“Our Photographer Steven Power & Videographer Hannah Lane, arrived at the Castle at 7am and did not stop going until 10pm that night. They both did such an amazing job and we would highly recommend them.”
