Love at first sight for Julie and Menna

Love at first sight for Julie and Menna

September 23rd, 2017 – The Ardilaun Hotel

Menna was working with Julie’s brother Peter in London when they met and it was obvious immediately that there was a love connection. After some dinner and a few drinks, they arranged another date in London a month later and that led to a marriage at the Ardilaun Hotel in front of 150 guests last September. Julie and Menna got engaged while travelling in South America. Julie got down on bended knee as they were sitting overlooking ‘Lago Hermoso’ in Argentina. The couple now live and work in Cardiff and are both teachers – Julie teaches children with autism and Menna works in a primary school.

The Wedding Team
On their wedding day, the stunning brides wore dresses from Laura May Bridal Shop in Cardiff. Hair and Make Up on the day was provided by Grafton’s in Salthill (Menna) and Barry’s on Shop Street (Julie). The Galway Wedding Belles played during the wedding ceremony, while The Guinness Jazz Trio took care of all things musical during the drinks reception. Gemina 4 then took over the music duties and played long into the night. After a lot of toing and froing, the couple decided not to have a first dance but towards the end of the night Gemini 4 invited the happy couple onto the dancefloor and ‘Celebrate Good Times’ effectively became their first dance song. Dara Molloy officiated the ceremony and Miriam Jennings Photography captured Julie and Menna’s special day. For their honeymoon, Julie and Menna travelled to Venice and then visited the west coast of Italy.

Can you tell us in a few words how great the The Ardilaun Hotel was for your wedding?
The Ardilaun was the best place we could have chosen. Maureen, the wedding planner, was amazing and the whole day was perfect. During the months leading up to the wedding, Maureen met with us several times and she was so organised that there wasn’t much for us to do at all. She really took away any worries or stresses we had about the day. All the guests were commenting on how fantastic the hotel was and how much good food there was throughout the day. The way the ceremony room was set up for the wedding was beautiful and the reception room is absolutely stunning.
