June 2 2017, The g Hotel, Galway
Tony Smith and Robert Costello attended the same University in Limerick but a meeting with a mutual friend is how this love story began. After taking a year out to dance professionally, Tony was back in Limerick for a short time and a night of drinks led to a connection that is now forever. During a holiday in Stiges for Gay Pride, Tony got down on bended knee at their favourite restaurant and without hesitation Robert said yes. They were married at the stunning g Hotel in Galway last June in front of 120 of their friends and family.
The Wedding Team Robert and Tony both got their suits from Manleys Mans Shop in Athy, Co Kildare. Tony wore a double breasted lightly chequered grey suit and Robert opted for a double-breasted pin stripe navy suit. Grace Daniels Cakes created a three tier, doubled tier cake that was so large that they had four flavours/cakes (rocky road, lemon cake and Baileys gnash) to choose from. Cian Maloney from Limerick took care of the hair on the day, while Sarah Mason from Galway was on duty for the ladies’ hair.
Two of Robert’s cousins that are professional singers and they performed during the ceremony. The happy couple came up the aisle to a version of a Britney Spears song, ‘Brightest Morning Star’. Bentley Boys and a DJ ensured that guests were entertained long into the night. The Sundays cover of the Rolling Stones song ‘Wild Horses’ was chosen as their first dance song.
Amy Clarke Photography captured the wedding that had an art deco/navy and white theme that mirrored the function room at The G Hotel. The invitations followed suit. For their honeymoon, Robert and Tony returned to the site of their engagement, Stiges for two weeks.
Favourite memories “Our favourite memory of the day would have to be the service we were provided throughout the whole day. The meal was just out of this world, something that all our guests are still talking about.
"For each table we put selfie sticks. This allowed the guests to mingle with guests they didn’t know. We also had Magic Mirror at the afters which went down a treat with the guests.
“Irish dancing was also a big part of the wedding. Tony is an Irish dancer and a manager of Celtic Rhythm, a dance troupe, that preform at weddings on a weekly basis."
Can you tell us in a few words how great The g Hotel was for your wedding? “God, we could go on and on about The g Hotel and how we were treated by the staff. Everything was done to perfection.
We were blown away by the service from the very start. They simple made the whole day the best day of our lives.” https://www.theghotel.ie
