Cork natives Clarie Spillane and Jamie O’Donovan first crossed paths in Chambers bar in Cork city, and the rest is history. Customer Success Manager Claire fondly recalls when Jamie, an Audiology Clinic Advisor, proposed to her during a trip away in November 2016. “It was three years to do the day from our first meeting. She swept me off to the Cliff House Hotel for a romantic night away. We got there and she had a video made of our three years together and when it ended she was down on one knee. We were both bawling crying and shaking but of course I said hell yes,” Claire shares. The wedding date was set to May 3, 2019 with the wedding taking place in Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork.

The pair recall their day as an unforgettable and personal experience. “ It was a beautiful sunny day filled with laughter, smiles, tears and love. We started off the day with our first look in the gardens. It was emotional and beautiful. Then was the ceremony, and our celebrant Norma was fabulous. The décor and styling was amazing. The cake and tables were decorated in a Disney theme because we’re both Disney obsessed. Our speeches were filled with Disney quotes too. Out first dance was to our favourite song, Never Change by Picture This. We danced the night away after that. All in all, it was an absolute fairy-tale,” Claire remembers.

The wedding party consisted of bridesmaids Emma Lydon, Diana Walsh and Siobhan O’Regan, and bridesmen Clifford Hayes, Adrian Kiely, Luke O’Connor and Evan O Meara. Best man duties were filled by Stephen Spillane and Maurice Power. Claire shares both her and Jamie’s favourite moment from their special day. “Our favourite moment of the day was our first look. Seeing each other was so emotional and it was just between us. It was magical,” the bride reveals.

Having organised their own dream day, both Claire and Jamie share their advice to other couples making plans to tie the knot. “It’s just like any other wedding so book whatever you want and have things as big or small as you want. Don’t ever try to please everyone, it’s actually not possible,” Claire adds.

The brides’ special day took place within the stunning Rochestown Park Hotel. Special moments were captured forever by Rose Gowan Photography and wedding videographer Dan Sweeney. Claire and Jamie’s dresses were carefully chosen from The Moderne and Vows, while bridesmen and best man suits were sourced from Fitzgerald Menswear on Patrick’s Street, Cork. The wedding venue was further enhanced through stylish décor from Ever After Vintage Events. The delicious wedding cake was baked to perfection by Trace of Cakes. Both the newlyweds and their guests were kept dancing late into the evening with entertainment from band Deuces Wild.
