It was a match made in heaven when Jefferson Santo and Julian Cunningham swiped right for each other on the dating app Tinder.

After matching on the app, the two soulmates met for a coffee, sparking a flame that would lead to an amazing relationship and their dream day together in Donegal.

“I asked Jeff on his 40th birthday, we had a romantic candle lit dinner at home. After the meal, I brought out a birthday cake and sang ‘Happy Birthday’. When he blew out the candles I got down on one knee and asked him to marry me,” Julian shared.

Wedding Details

An Chúirt Hotel in Gweedore, Co. Donegal was the venue for the boys’ big day, which took place on July 14, 2018.

Em from Roving Rev was the enchanting and always professional celebrant for the day, creating and performing a ceremony that was incredibly personal and special for both Jeff and Julian.

Tasteful and eloquent Hire Class from Belfast provided the stylish and sophisticated suits that the men wore on their big day.

The photographers for the wedding were the phenomenal Connor and Nicky from Pure Purple Studios who captured all the magical moments throughout the day, leaving Jeff and Julian with perfect wedding photos that will be cherished by them forever.

DJ for the night, Stephen McElhinney of SM entertainment made sure all the guests were getting good workouts on the dance floor, providing a wide range of music that had everyone going through the night.

Tiger Lily located in Letterkenny added to the beauty of the duo’s wedding with their dazzling floral decorations and stunning bouquets.

Personal Touches

The perfect pair’s unity and strong bond to each other was symbolised with a heart-warming handfasting ceremony, which had all the guests enthralled at this amazing show of love for each other, with none of the guests having seen a ceremony like it before.

How was your experience with The Roving Rev?

“We are really grateful that we found EM to be celebrant at our wedding. The service that she created struck all the right emotional notes for us. The handfasting ceremony was deeply personal and deeply reflected the strong bonds that Jeff and I feel that we have.”

Favourite Memories

“For me, the fact that my family came over from Brazil was incredible.  My sister gave a very moving speech that was from the heart, and the brought everyone to tears.  It was very beautiful,” Jeff shares his favourite memory of the wedding.

“For me, as well as the ceremony, which felt very personal and powerful, I really enjoyed having the opportunity to talk about how important the day was for me, and how grateful I was for everyone who attended. I hadn’t prepared a speech, so spoke off the cuff and from the heart. I talked of how when I was growing up, gay marriage wasn’t legal, how uncertain the future was. Getting married was something I never imagined for myself, so to be surrounded by friends, family, work colleagues and loved ones was really special, and a very profound experience,” Julian recalls his favourite memory of the big day.

Both the now happily married men also shared the same feelings of appreciation for all the friends and colleagues who travelled from London to be there for the big day.
