Killashee Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare

Ellen MacMahon from Naas, Kildare married the love of her life, Sarah Finnegan, a Carrickmacross
native, on July 15, 2022, at the stunning Killashee Hotel in Naas. They had 110 guest attend and were
supported by 3 bridesmen, 3 bridesmaids, 1 page boy and 2 flower girls and it was the most joyous
day of their lives.

The Beginning
Ellen, a marine scientist and Sarah, a teacher, met online in 2015 and, quickly realising there was
some chemistry, arranged their first date in Pantibar in Dublin that Christmas. After three wonderful
years of getting to know each other, it was inevitable that they were destined to spend the rest of
their lives together.

The Engagement
On December 12, 2018, Sarah was the first of the two girls to pop the question. Sarah organised a
treasure hunt around the house discovering their favourite memories as a couple, along the way.
Ellen had also planned to pop the big questions around the same time so the following day she
asked Sarah to be her forever while she watched their love story unfold on tv.

The Wedding Day
They walked up the aisle to “Fantasy” by Blame Jones, performed by Tracy Gallagher and their first
dance was Finally by Lusaint, sung by one of their best friends Samantha King. Ellen made up little
antique keys that doubled as bottle openers as their wedding favours. They had a tag on them with a
little rhyme and the date of their wedding. Both girls, unbeknownst to each other, purchased very
similar dresses from the same store and the same designer. They were both blown away by the
similarities.

Favourite Memories
“Seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle. The speeches were brilliant. Dancing
and singing all night with our family and friends. Having family and friends that we hadn’t seen in a
long time altogether in the one place,” the girls recall fondly.

Any Hiccups?
One of the Brides (who shall not be named) forgot her flowers in her house. There was panic when
she realised this at the venue. Thankfully, a family member went back to get them, but the
ceremony was delayed by about an hour.

Favourite Picture
“The one of us enjoying our first pint of Guinness as Mrs and Mrs. Taken in the snug bar in
Killashee.”

“From day one Killashee were absolutely fantastic. The team were easy to contact and very
responsive to any queries. Marion was our wedding coordinator on the day and was incredible. She
was such a calming influence and always made sure the brides and guests were well looked after.
Paulina took over as our coordinator in the evening. We can’t speak highly enough of Paulina. Her
calm and positive nature was infectious. The food and service were brilliant and the stunning
grounds was the cherry on top. The resident’s snug bar in the evening was a lovely touch and made
for a relaxed final couple of drinks with our friends and family.”
