September 23rd, 2017 – Arklow Bay Hotel, Co Wicklow
Dublin couple Clive and James met over 11 years ago through a mutual friend and their initial friendship later blossomed into a beautiful romance.
James decided to propose after getting the go ahead from Clive’s mam on his 31st birthday and they celebrated the news with both families in their local pub the same evening.
They booked the Arklow Bay Hotel in Co Wicklow four weeks after the engagement and nearly a year later Clive and James got hitched in front of 175 of their family and friends.
Given the 20-strong wedding party, it took Clive and James three songs (and 17 minutes) to make their way down the aisle.
The Wedding Team
On the day itself, James was decked out in a light grey three-piece and Clive opted for a simple ivory suite. Flowers were also a big part of their day.
Clive and James decided to have 10 bridesmaids and each of them were given a single rose, while all six of their flower girls received traditional bunches.
The happy couple opted for a 10-tier cake and went for a DJ on both their wedding day and for the festivities the day after.
Graham Barrett of Spiritual Ceremonies performed the ceremonial duties, while Photography by Saulius was in charge of capturing the couple’s magical day.
Three hairdressers and make-up artists were on hand to make everyone look their best for the occasion. Clive and James chose ‘You’re Still the One’ by Shania Twain as their first dance song.
Unique Touches
As little wedding gifts for each other, James bought Clive the aftershave he was wearing the first time that they met. Clive responded by purchasing tickets for WWE for James.
The lovebirds also had sweets and beer mats made up for the day. The beer mats said, ‘don’t take my drink when dancing’.
A remembrance table was also set up to honour special people to the couple who were unable to be present on their wedding day.
